Our students from the Culinary Arts and Restaurant Services (CARS) program Peppermint section, had a special mentoring session last January 27, 2026, Tuesday, with Caring for the Environment as featured topic.
The students had a lecture and workshop on how they can be better stewards of Mother Earth, with Ms. Nadie Balutabot giving a demonstration on planting cacti and succulents. Together with other mentors from Palihan Center composed of Ms. Agnes Lumban, Ms. Tere Bambao, Ms. Vicki Elizaga, and Ms. Jo Fejer, the students learned about the encyclical of Pope Francis, Laudato Si, and had a walking tour along Friendship Road familiarizing themselves with the names of the different trees, shrubs and plants lining the path to and from Anihan!
Bookmarks bearing an Oath to Care for Creation, and the Seven Steps to Sustain Mother Earth were given to the students as keepsakes to remind them of their commitment to love and be faithful stewards of the earth’s natural resources. What delighted the students were the raffled out pots of cacti and succulents prepared from the plant nursery of Ms. Nadie! Thank you to all our mentors for this enriching activity! Look after your plants well, girls!
